Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal that is known as the West Island. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar with its meaning. They often believe it's an island located that lies west of Montreal However, the West Island encompasses everything between the cities in Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time was not long in the city. Brugel was an aspiring young lady in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. Her initial ambition was to become an actress, but after a sudden growth spurt her partners could no longer dance along with her. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. Once I was bigger than any male partner then I slowed down. Dancers who have been in the past often switch into acting. In the instance of Brugel, it was an urging by her teacher in drama. The teacher recommended that she try out for a school play. The teacher who suggested that she go after a role in the annual school production. She was given an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program which she completed from the program in 2000, earning a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. For the last twenty years, her work has been seen on the small and big screen. The most notable was her attention when she won her part as Rita in the acclaimed television series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian of the Season 1 cast of the show and seen only occasionally, was the sole Canadian.
